This week, we are going to talk about wines from home — Missouri wines. Long thought to be nothing more than sweet jug wine, Missouri winemakers have turned its unique grapes into subtle wines that can compete with any around the world. From the soft and fruity Vignoles to the hardy and full-bodied Norton, Missouri’s wines are easy to drink and a delight to the palate.
At the Diamond Ridge Market, Missouri wines are especially blended by the St. James Winery for us to offer our customer. The exclusive blends can’t be found anywhere else and are one-of-a-kind to Diamond Ridge. We’re going to introduce you to some this week.
Lightning Ridge:
The Vignoles is one of Missouri’s most veritable grapes and will be the one that many think will attract the most drinkers to Missouri’s wines.
Vignoles produces wines ranging from dry to sweet late harvest dessert wines. Vignoles’ luscious floral aroma and fruity flavors of pineapple and apricot are reminiscent of German Riesling. Ideal with Chinese food, fresh fruit, and fruit desserts.
The semi-dry white wine is produced for us by St. James and comes in the attractive blue bottle with the signature white horses on the label.
Lightning Ridge is cold fermented to encourage its delicate, fresh, light and fruity flavors. With just enough sweetness and a hint of lemon, this fruity wine balances any slight acidity nicely with a vibrant allure, earning over 80 awards internationally.
