Out, out wine spot!

Wine Stain Removal
Who hasn’t spilled a little wine in the course of evening? We all have. So, how do you get it out? Before you panic and toss the shirt or blouse or rip up the white shag carpet, try a few of these tips:

There are many some commercially made products out there that work. Pick one up at a local wine store or high-end home furnishings store.

If you’ve done have that, try on of these:

• Boiling Water: If you can get to the stain just as it has happened, the liquid hasn’t set yet. If it’s on a shirt or other clothing, stretch it over the kitchen sink or a pan and then pour boiling water through it. You can also put a bit of Dawn dishwashing detergent on it for extra help. The stain should wash right out. If it’s  something like a rug, you can’t usually pour water THROUGH it. Instead, take a washcloth dipped in Dawn and blot at the stain – rinsing the washcloth often.

• White Wine: For a dried stain, white wine will help to bleach out the red color.
Baking soda will also soak out the color if you lay on a paste.
