Check out some of the new wines for 09!
This wine has earned 92 points from Robert Parke who writes: “Tait has been establishing a track record for hedonistically rendered wines at consumer friendly prices for several years. Previous vintages of this wine have been smash hits and the 2006 The Ball Buster is a lock to continue the trend. The wine is composed of 78% Shiraz, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Merlot aged for 12 months in used French and American oak. Purple-colored, it exhibits a classy bouquet of cedar, earth, tar, espresso, blueberry, black currants, and licorice. Supple, ripe and soft on the palate, this seamless, crowd-pleaser of a wine can be enjoyed now and over the next several years. It is an awesome value.” It pairs great with grilled sausages, lamb and beef.
This is a fun wine with a screw cap and is an unoaked Pinot. It is a fresh, light and juicy wine for those of us who don’t like our Pinot Noir to look and taste like Syrah. The wine is delicate and pure, medium bodied and full of wild strawberry, cherry and raspberry aromas with just a subtle hint of spice in the finish. “No sugar tonight” in this wine. Think of this for parties this holiday season or Tuesday night with grilled sausages or roast chicken with mushrooms.
2007 Snoqualmie Winemakers Select Riesling
I came across this wine last week at the Diamond Ridge Market and it has quickly become a favorite. Rich in texture but light on the palate with crisp acidity for a clean refreshing finish. Full ripe flavors of lemon, green apple, apricot, and pineapple make for a delicious summer sipper, while the balance of this low alcohol wine make it very food friendly.
The wine comes from the Piedmont region and has a bright, light straw yellow color with highlights of green. It has great citrus notes including pineapple and grapefruit. It has a fresh and clean finish.
