I took some Layer Cake home the other night. Not the kind you eat with a fork and adds pounds to the waist. No, this was the kind you drink from a glass and enjoy slowly.
Layer Cake Wine has an Italian Primitivo, aka Zinfandel, which will knock your socks off. It’s an incredible red wine that delivers smooth, rich tastes that are sure to please any wine drinker.
The name comes from the layers of flavor the wine delivers with fruit, mocha, chocolate and hints of spice – and rich flavors, always rich.
Layer Cake Wines are quickly building momentum across the country
as wine lovers discover these rich, lush and complex expressions of
unique varietals from places around the globe.
Both the 2007 Layer
Cake Malbec from Argentina and the 2006 Layer Cake Primitivo from
Puglia made Nielson’s top 10 list of the top performing labels
introduced to the market in the first half of 2008.
Winemaker Jayson
Woodbridge and his team focus on making wines from unique locations
that have a sense of history and family,
As a result, every Layer Cake wine is a true and distinct reflection of the
farmers, the land and Jayson Woodbridge’s own style of winemaking.
Tyler, at the Diamond Ridge Market, has plenty on hand so be sure to stop by and pick up a bottle. And don’t forget, the monthly Diamond Ridge Market Wine Club meeting is Thursday at 6 p.m. We will be sampling some Layer Cake and a few other Italian wines. I will be serving meatballs as part of the celebration. See you there.
